We’ve all seen the unemployment statistics, but when it happens to one of your alumni – it’s different! Suddenly, their mind is swirling with questions, not the least of which is, “Now what?” And they may look to you for the answers! Whether they are facing a possible or actual furlough or job loss, this session will equip you to help them get their feet on the ground with real-life tips and insights.

Attendees will gain a better understanding of:

  • Understanding the personal / emotional impact of job loss 
  • The practical priorities alumni need to address right away 
  • What alumni need to do before they re-enter the job market 
  • How to respond to common fears about job loss 
  • Helping alumni to confidently discuss their job loss with their contacts, employers, and recruiters.

About the Presenter

A member of the Career & Leadership for MBA & Alumni team at UNC Kenan-Flagler since 2012, Elizabeth Wallencheck, has 30 years of career-management experience. This includes 12 years as a consultant for Right Management, a global HR consulting firm where she delivered coaching and training services, including executive-level programs. She also launched her private career-consulting firm, Nexus Career Strategists. Prior to this, Elizabeth served as assistant director of career services at a large public university in Ohio. 

She earned a Master of Science in Counseling from SUNY at Albany. Elizabeth is certified to administer the First 90 Days Online and the world-class Crucial Conversations® training. Through her caring, collaborative coaching approach and engaging training style, Elizabeth equips clients to achieve greater professional satisfaction and success by supporting them in both envisioning and pursuing their unique career path.
