----------------------------------- Allison McWilliams, Ph.D. is Assistant Vice President, Mentoring and Alumni Personal & Career Development, at Wake Forest University, where she leads and provides education and support for mentoring relationships across the campus community and career development support for alumni. She has written for and spoken to national and international audiences about effective mentoring strategies, leadership, and management. Allison earned her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest and holds a master’s and a doctorate from the University of Georgia.
Allison has written two books: Year One: How Young Professionals (And Their Managers) Can Thrive in Their First Job After College (2021; with Katherine Laws), and Five For Your First Five: Own Your Career and Life After College (2020, 3rd ed.), and regularly contributes to a blog for Psychology Today. Her team has won the Imaginative Spirit Award from the Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (2021); the Career Services Excellence Award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (2022), and the Excellence and Innovation Award from the Alumni Career Services Network (2024). As well, Allison was awarded the National Mentor of the Year award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers in 2022.
